Thank you for your support and gifts to Terrence Higgins Trust.
Thanks to your gifts, we continue on our mission to end new HIV cases in the UK by 2030, support people living with HIV, and eradicate HIV-related stigma. Thank you.
Terrence Higgins Trust was started in 1982 by a group of friends who wanted to make a difference to the lives of people living with HIV, following the death of their friend Terry Higgins on 4 July 1982. He was just 37 years old.
From our modest beginnings in a flat in central London, we’ve grown into the UK’s leading HIV charity. Today, we support people living with HIV, whilst also remembering those who have lost their lives to HIV since the epidemic started over 40 years ago.
Right now, there are around 113,500 people living with HIV in the UK. There are also around 5,200 people in the UK who are living with HIV, and do not know they have the virus.
By sharing the facts about HIV, you can help us encourage more people to get tested, so they know if they have HIV and can begin treatment. People living with HIV can live long, healthy lives. With effective treatment, the virus cannot be passed on.
Quote textSince 1982, we have provided support for people living with HIV that’s tailored to their needs. With help and kind gifts from people like you, we’re proud to provide vital services for people living with HIV. Thank you.
Stigma is more harmful than HIV. Thanks to your gifts, we are working to ensure that people with HIV can live healthy lives, free from stigma and discrimination, by educating the public and overcoming ignorance.
Here are two stories which demonstrate why your gifts are so important in the fight against stigma. In the first, Charity talks about breaking down HIV myths and stigma in the workplace. Eoin then shares his story about fighting HIV stigma to achieve his dreams.
