This World AIDS Day, join others across the UK to walk 10km and raise money to help us end new cases of HIV in the UK by 2030. The money you raise will also help us to continue supporting people living with HIV.

You can complete your 10km walk however and wherever you want. 

Getting started is quick and easy, just follow these simple steps: 

  1. Sign up with us today. If you’d like one, we’ll also send you a free Terrence Higgins Trust T-Shirt to wear proudly as you walk.
  2. Set up your fundraising page and start raising funds. We'll send you an email following sign up to help you set up your JustGiving page.
  3. Commit to running or walking 10km.

Creating a JustGiving fundraising page is the easiest way to get sponsored. You can share your page on Facebook, over email, or in group chats with family and friends.

For you: Walking can help improve your energy levels and boost your mental health while lowering your risk of heart and circulatory disease.

For Terrence Higgins Trust: Every pound you raise will go directly to our support services for people living with HIV, like our helpline, group support and counselling. It will also help us on our campaign to end new cases of HIV in the UK by 2030.

What is Walk 10km this World AIDS Day?

This is a physical fundraising challenge for Terrence Higgins Trust. We are challenging everyone to walk 10km on Sunday 1 December or a day of your choice. If you’d like to increase the distance and set a higher target, that’s completely up to you!

Are there any registration fees?

No, it’s free to take part.

Is there a fundraising target?

No, you can set your own target. We suggest a target of £100.

How do I fundraise?

Please sign up to our challenge, you will then receive an email to set up a JustGiving page to fundraise. You can then share your progress on social media for your family and friends, we will also send you fundraising tips before your challenge.

How long will it take to walk 10km?

It usually takes between 90 minutes and two hours to walk 10km, which is just over 6 miles.

How can I track my 10km?

You can track your 10km however you wish, we recommend using a free walking app or a smart watch. 

How do I get the free Terrence Higgins Trust t-shirt?

Everyone who registers can request a free t-shirt. You can select the size on our sign-up form.

Do I have to do the challenge on World AIDS Day?

Whilst we encourage everyone to complete this challenge on World AIDS Day on Sunday 1 December, this is a personal challenge, and you can walk your 10km at a time that is convenient for you.

Do I have to walk the 10km in one day?

You can complete your 10km in a way that’s a challenge for you.

What do I do if there is a group of us walking? 

If you are walking with friends, please register your walk once and email [email protected] if you’d like t-shirts for everyone. Everyone can set up their own JustGiving page or you may just want to set up the one JustGIving page and share it. 

What if I don’t complete the 10km?

The only thing that matters is that you challenge yourself and therefore complete as much of the 10km as you can. Whether you complete the distance or not, the money that you fundraise will allow Terrence Higgins Trust to continue our live saving work.
